Today's Birthday of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Sahib was a 14th-century Indian mystic poet-sant from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. He was a prominent figure in the Bhakti movement and his hymns are found in the Sikh holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib. His teachings emphasized the equality of all people and the importance of love and compassion. Sant Ravidas Ji's teachings are still relevant today. They remind us that we are all equal in the eyes of God and that we should treat each other with love and respect. Raidas says, what shall I sing? Singing, singing I am defeated. How long shall I consider and proclaim: absorb the self into the Self? This experience is such, that it defies all description. I have met the Lord, Who can cause me harm? Hari in everything, everything in Hari – For him who knows Hari and the sense of self, no other testimony is needed: the knower is absorbed. *** For more about Sufism click our website link: www.thesufi.com
