Background of Qaseeda Burd Shareef [Ode of the Blanket] Al-Busiri narrate: "I had composed a number of Naat poems for the Prophet, SAW that was suggested to me by my friend Zayn al-Din Yaqoob al-Zubayr. Some time after that, I was stricken by stroke, an illness that paralyzed half of my body. I thought that I would compose this poem, and so I made supplications to the Prophet Muhammad SAW and salute Him with peace, to intercede for me and (ask God to) cure me. I repeatedly sang the poem, wept, prayed, and asked for intercession. Then I slept and in my dream, I saw the Prophet SAW. Prophet wiped my face with His blessed hands and covered me in His Mantle (Burdah). Then I woke up and found I was able to walk; so I got up and left my house. I had told no one about what had happened. I encountered a Sufi on my way and he said to me: "I want you to give me the poem in which you praise the Prophet, Allah bless Him and salute Him with peace." I said: "Which one?" So he said: "The one that you composed during your sickness." Then he recited the first verse and said: "I swear by God that I heard it in a dream last night being sung in the presence of the Prophet Muhammad, Allah bless Him and salute Him with peace. I saw the Prophet, Allah bless Him and salute Him with peace, was pleased with it and covered the person who sang it with His Mantle." So I recited the poem to him and he memorized it and related his vision to others." [From Wikipedia] Download Qisa Burd Shareef [PTV Ramzan Recording] at https://ift.tt/2zhwYo0

Tipu Sultan was the last real resistance against the take over of India by the British and he fought bravely like a true warrior until his last breath. Allama Iqbal wrote favourably for Sultan Tipu, his bravery, and his desire to seek union amongst all nations within India, which is evident by his below poem. This poem was sung beautifully by Nusrat Sahib in form of Qawwali, pls download below. https://ift.tt/2zRYKqk

During the Month of Ramadan, a few young men saw an old woman sitting down eating a peach in a secluded place. “Hello old lady, are you aware this is the Month of Ramadan? Why aren’t you fasting?”, they asjed. The old woman raised her eyes up to them, surprised and replied, “What do you _mean_ ? I _am_ fasting! I just eat some food and drink some water.” The young lads laughed and asked, “Oh old woman, how can you fast in such a manner?” The old woman replied, “It’s simple; I continuously guard and observe my heart, I am present in my salaat, I don’t think badly of anyone I meet, I don’t lie, nor hurt, abuse or slander anyone, I don’t backbite nor allow myself to get angry, I am not jealous of anyone, I protect my eyes from glancing at that which is forbidden, I do my duties and fulfil my responsibilities honestly, I refrain from eating that which is neither _halal_ nor _tayyib_ and with every breath standing, sitting or reclining, I try to remember Allah. But because of an illness in my body, I’m not allowed to refrain from food and drink.” As they listened to her words, the young men then embarrassedly turned to look at one another. With sincerity and eagerness the old woman then asked them, “So, my sons, are you fasting too?” With heads bowed down, one of the youth replied, in a barely audible voice, “No kind lady, sadly not. We just don’t eat or drink”. Sufi Story courtesy of http://sufiway.eu
