At Lefke, I had the honour to spend three days with Shaykh Nazim, may Allah Bless him. Shaykh was the most hospitable person I ever met. His family grew some crops themselves , plough their fields, and picked vegetables with their own hands to serve at dinner table, which was full of delicious simple organic food. Shaykh kept pushing us to eat more. When dessert arrived, I excused saying there is not an inch left in stomach for dessert. Shaykh smiled and said, ‘No matter how busy the mosque, imam (dessert) always find it way!’ I gave up to this loving logic and ate my dessert too. May Allah keep his blessing to all us. Traditional Qawwali rely on minimal instrument of dholak/tabla, harmonium and clapping only. With the advent of new western instruments, Qawwals nowadays often accompanied by band. However, some of the greatest Qawwalis maintain minimalist instrument. Here is an example, Dama Dum Mast Qalandar, the ORIGINAL version in voice of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and his nephew Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to download. Dam Mast Qalandar (Original) – with young Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in backing vocals. http://ift.tt/1QrMQbs

Baahoo chal uthaaeen wasee-e, Daahvaa na jith horee hoo. Translation – Lofty are the portals of religion; Hard to find is the narrow path that leads to God. Walk along it unnoticed, Stealing past the priests. They protest, they obstruct, They persecute people who really love God. Let us go and live somewhere, Bahoo, Where no one but God holds supremacy....

Hazrat Khwaja Syed Muhammad Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki R.A The life of a Sufi in HIS word's A Sufi must eat very little. If he eats full-belly, he is a slave of his Nafs. He must eat only to retain sufficient vitality to enable him to keep his body and soul together, so that he may be able to perform his devotional duties conveniently and successfully. A Sufi's dress must be very simple, free of all pomp and show. If he wears his dress for the sake of show, he is a dacoit in the path of renunciation. A Sufi must talk and sleep as little as possible to avoid all sorts of worthless worldly entanglements. www.thesufi.com

Today [9th November] is celebrated as Iqbal day in Pakistan, the birth date of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Iqbal and his spiritual mentor Mevlana Rumi lived in entirely different eras and geographies. When Mustafa Kamal Attaturk [Father of Modern Turks] , who was a secular leader, visted Allama Iqbal's shrine, he brought soil from Rumi's tomb as tabaruk to sprinkle over Allama grave. There is an honoury grave of Iqbal in the courtyard of Rumi along with many other dignitaries and followers of Mevlevi order. Like the profound spiritual relation between Mevlana and Shams Tabraiz, its is amazing to learn about such link between Allama Iqbal and Maulana Rumi, an apprentice and protege parted by time and geography yet combined by Self-discovery and immense reverence. #allamaiqbal #iqbal
