The Piece of Paper describing Allah's Lions: Sufi Story by Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani while recounting an incident from his time in Baghdad shared a remarkable story of divine intervention and spiritual enlightenment. During a period of hardship when he had been deprived of food for several days he found himself walking towards a lesser-known street called 'Qat'eeya Sharfiya'. In this street there was a secluded mosque where he would often sit alone and study his lessons for the next day. On his way to Mohalla Qat'eeya a stranger approached Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani and handed him a piece of paper requesting him to deliver it to a specific shop. Surprised by this unexpected encounter he complied with the stranger's request and proceeded to the designated shop. Upon arrival he handed over the piece of paper to the shop owner who accepted it and in return provided Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani with bread and sweets. Carrying the bread and sweets he returned to the mosque where he usually studied. As he sat down preparing to enjoy his meal he noticed a piece of paper lying near the wall. Curiosity led him to pick it up and read its contents. The words written on the paper struck him profoundly: " "Almighty Allah has stated in one of the past Books that the Lions of Allah have no desire for the pleasures of this world. Desires and pleasure in food are for the old and weak who rely on it to gain strength for their worship." Upon reading these powerful words Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani experienced a deep sense of awe and fear of Allah causing his entire body to tremble and the hair on his body to stand on end. Instantly he purged the desire to eat from his mind engaged in two units of prayer (Rakahs) and then left the mosque without consuming the food. Sufi Story from Rumi's Masnavi eBook - https://ift.tt/ONu42DQ Once upon a time in a small village nestled amidst lush green fields there lived a man who sought solace in the simplicity of nature. His favorite spot was a tall brick wall that overlooked a gentle water stream its sparkling waters meandering through the countryside. The wall was his refuge a place where he could sit and ponder feeling the cool breeze against his face as he gazed at the tranquil flow of the stream. However on one fateful day as he settled atop his familiar perch he found himself trapped. A sudden gust of wind had blown the only ladder away leaving him stranded atop the tall wall. Panic gripped him as he realized he couldnt climb down to quench his growing thirst. As the scorching sun beat down upon him his desperation grew. He felt an unbearable thirst his throat parched and dry. Frustration and despair washed over him and in a fit of desperation he started picking at the bricks of the wall. One by one he tore them away throwing them into the water stream below. As the bricks splashed into the water a symphony of soothing sounds filled the air. The gentle splashing became a balm to his ears momentarily easing his thirst and providing a sense of relief. The more bricks he threw the more enchanting the sound became. It was as if the water itself was singing to him whispering secrets of comfort and respite. Driven by the captivating music of the water he continued to dismantle the wall brick by brick. Why you throwing bricks on me he heard the water stream complaining to him. There are 2 benefits the person replied. With each brick thrown in water it is music to my ears. Second the more bricks I throw the closer I get to the water Each brick of nafs that you break and throw away the closer it is taking your Allah SWT. #rumi #Masnavi

The Villager who mistook a Lion for his Cow: Sufi Story from Rumi's Masnavi A simpleton villager was very fond of his cow and used to care her immensely. Once day he tied his cow in the barn and went for some chores. Unfortunately he forgot to lock the barn door. A hungry Lion took the opportunity and attacked and ate the cow. When the Villager returned it was quite dark. The Lion after eating the cow was sleeping the barn. The Villager thought it was his cow as he started stroking the Lion. Had he known that what he was stroking was the most ferocious animal the Villager's heart would have busted with fear. Mevlana Rumi narrate using fable above that we only say the word Allah however if His Almighty grandeur and glory is manifested upon us our state will be far worse that Hazrat Musa R.A. . It is narrated in all Abrahamic traditions that Hazrat Musa went unconscious as he caught glimpse of Allah Almighty. Hazrat Musa was one of the strongest of Men and insisted on seeing glimpse of Allah despite being warned and when it happened the divine grandeur was too much for his senses. #rumi #sufistory #masnavi Maulana gives a message that our nafs is more dangerous than a wild lion. We like the simple villager pamper our nafs and think it is harmless like a cow although it has ability to tear apart our entire being.
