Sufi Ibn ‘At.ā’ Allāh al-Sakandari.. When you enter into prayer, you enter a private conversation with God, and you talk to the Prophet. For you say, “Peace be unto you, O Prophet, along with God’s mercy and blessings.” And the Arabs only use the vocative, “ ayyuhā ,” followed by a definite noun to address persons directly.
